Description

2 Royal Wettina Matching double-handled Vases, Robert Hank 1882 - 1914, Ledvice, Czech Republic (ie formerly Austria).  Purchased by me in 2001 in Nantes, France.  Hand-painted in Mirror-Image of one another.  Pink Narcissus and Opium Poppies adorn the warm caramel yellow vases, which are designed (in a very unusual for Royal Wettina) Art Nouveau, airy / wispy / ethereal style, worthy of a Elfish Crown in a Tolkien Saga.  10"h x 6"w x 4.25"d.  Combined weight: 4lb.
[Note: The gilded edging running up and down the vases and their handles, was intentionally applied in a broken-line pattern, by the artist, when the vases were made, as can easily be seen in close-up inspection of the photos, and is not an example of the gilding "wearing off" in places with age.  I imagine the artist no doubt decorated in this broken-line gilding, to enhance the airy / ethereal / wispy style of the top and handles.  However, do note, as seen in the last photo, that one vase has a truly minuscule scrape on the gilded edge on a tiny section of the base, which removed the gilding, and is an extremely simple, literally 5 second, touch-up repair.
