    Description

Up for auction is a very attractive porcelain comical figurine of a monk.
In 1894, Amphora began producing figural sculptures.
Some pieces depicted figurines in classical style but there were also those that reflected contemporary themes.
The figurine was designed by Elvir Otto and made by Amphora in Turn Teplitz, Bohemia, Austro-Hungarian Empire between 1902 and 1904.
The figurine stands approximately 8 ¼’’ high and is approximately 5 1/8’’ wide at the widest point.
The bottom is marked with the incised words reading ‘Amphora’,
‘Austria’, a crown and an incised model number 5041.
The figurine is in great antique condition: there are no cracks, chips, or repairs.
